We are a co-operative. As a co-operative we are owned by our members. Our members are co-operative organisations and organisations which support co-operatives and co-operation. We operate for their benefit and the ownership and control of Co-operatives UK lies with our members. With thousands of members - either direct members or through our federal members - Co-operatives UK is a network of thousands of co-operatives. By promoting shared wealth through member ownership, we are committed to enable anyone in the UK to form, or join, thriving and sustainable co-ops.

The International Cooperative Alliance unites, represents and serves cooperatives worldwide. Founded in 1895, it is one of the oldest non-governmental organisations and one of the largest ones measured by the number of people represented: 1 billion cooperative members on the planet.
